Wolves: The Museum Collection
For most of human history, wolves were not strangers. We followed the same migrating herds, drank from the same rivers, listened to the same winter winds, and learned to survive beneath the same stars. They were our competitors, our teachers, our companions in the oldest stories we have ever told.
This collection grew from nearly a decade spent following wolves across two profoundly different worlds: the high Canadian Arctic, where wolves still live largely beyond the reach of human fear, and Yellowstone National Park, where every encounter carries the long memory of our complicated relationship. Together, these landscapes revealed not two kinds of wolves, but two versions of ourselves. One relationship rooted in coexistence, another shaped by conflict.
The photographs in this collection are less about wilderness than they are about our kinship towards the more-than-human world. The images reveal family devotion, play, grief, endurance, tenderness, and the quiet intelligence required to live well within a community.
I hope these photographs offer more than beautiful moments. I hope they become small reminders that the wild has never been somewhere else. It has always been waiting for us to remember our place within it.
